Yolande Mondesir, 63, Passed Away

LAUDERDALE LAKES, FL — 63-year-rold Yolande Mondesir passed away after being struck by a car in Lauderdale Lakes.

A tragic incident occurred in Lauderdale Lakes where a pedestrian lost their life. The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is currently investigating the details of the accident.

The unfortunate collision happened a little before 9 p.m. On Wednesday, January 10th, near the area of 2900 North State Road 7. According to the initial findings, Yolande Mondesir, a 63 year old individual, was struck by a 2016 Nissan Versa Note while they were crossing North State Road 7. The driver of the Nissan promptly stopped at the scene and fully cooperated with the investigation.

Detectives have determined that Mondesir was walking across North State Road 7 in an area without an official crosswalk when the accident occurred.

Upon receiving reports, BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue immediately responded to the scene. Sadly, Mondesir was pronounced dead on site.

Investigators have stated that there is no evidence indicating that excessive speed or impairment played a role on part of the driver.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
