Boca Post is a news organization owned by Pledged Media, LLC. This privacy policy applies to the Boca Post website, located at https://bocapost.com. This privacy policy will explain how Pledged Media, LLC uses personal data we collect from you when you visit Bocapost.com.

Newsletter & E-Mails

If you have subscribed to our newsletter or if you are a registered user of bocapost.com (you can log in) or if you have purchased a service from bocapost.com, there is a good chance you will receive emails from us.

We will only send you emails which you have signed up to receive, or which pertain to the services we provided to you. To send you emails, we use the name and email address you provide us. Bocapost.com also logs the IP address you used when you signed up for the service to prevent abuse of the system.

Bocapost.com can send emails through the MailPoet Sending Service. This service allows us to track opens and clicks on our emails. We use this information to improve the content of our newsletters.

No identifiable information is otherwise tracked outside of bocapost.com except for the email address and name.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on bocapost.com, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to bocapost.com, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Bocapost.com visitors may download and be able to extract any location data from images on Bocapost.com. Take necessary precautions before uploading images to Bocapost.com, if applicable.

Cookies

Functionality Cookies

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata may be retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on bocapost.com, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All registered users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Bocapost.com administrators can also see and edit that information.

How do we store your data?

Bocapost.com stores data owned by registered users, excluding billing data, on our website, protected by high-level TLS encryption. Personal data is not shared with anyone other than Pledged Media, LLC authorized personnel who may use certain data to perform required functions, such as unsubscribing users from mailing lists, approving, or disapproving comments, blocking spammers or abusive users, etc.

Marketing

Boca Post would like to send you information about products and services of ours that we think you might like. Note, this only applies to registered users or those who have subscribed to one our mailings lists. If you have agreed to receive marketing, you may always opt out at a later date.

You have the right at any time to stop Boca Post from contacting you for marketing purposes. If you no longer wish to be contacted for marketing purposes, please unsubscribe.

Note, we will never sell your information or provide it to any 3rd party.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on Bocapost.com, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Anti-Spam & Where Your Data May Be Sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. In order to defend against spammers, Bocapost.com uses Akismet, a anti-spam software. By using Akismet, we may collect information about visitors who comment on Bocapost..com.. The information we collect may include the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

Directory Listings & Obituaries

When you purchase a directory listing, the content of the listing and its metadata are retained indefinitely. All users can see, edit, or delete the personal information included on their listings at any time. Authorized Pledged Media, LLC personnel can also see and edit that information.

Bocapost.com visitors can see the business name, website URL, phone number, address and other information included in your submission to describe the directory listing. Bocapost.com visitors will not see any personal or billing information required to process the order.

Similar to business directory listings, the content found in a paid obituary and its metadata are retained indefinitely. An obituary purchaser can request changes to the paid obituary or request removal at any time. This request must be made in writing via a request using this form.

Payment Information

If you pay to post a directory listing entering your credit card and billing information directly on https://bocapost.com, the credit card information won’t be stored but it will be shared through a secure connection with the following payment gateways to process the payment:
