Bicyclist Struck By Bus, Killed In Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A Bicyclist is dead after he was struck, and killed by a bus in Pompano Beach.

Fort Lauderdale Police and Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Andrews Avenue and Cypress Creek Road in Fort Lauderdale at 6:37 PM on Friday, June 9th, 2023. First responders found 62-year-old Rickie Franks unresponsive.

Authorities say Franks was riding a bicycle on the sidewalk when he lost his balance and fell into the street. Franks was then run over by a Broward County Transit bus operated by 22-year-old Jacquan Dennis.

Franks was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators say that excessive speed is not considered a contributing factor in the crash.
