BROWARD COUNTY, FL — A pedestrian is dead after a crash Wednesday night in Pompano Beach, and detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating.
BSO said Broward County Regional Communications received a report at about 8:49 p.m. of a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of West Sample Road and Northwest Fifth Terrace.
Detectives said preliminary information indicates a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling eastbound on West Sample Road approaching Northwest Fifth Terrace when a pedestrian entered the driver’s path and was struck.
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue paramedics responded at the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead, BSO said.
BSO identified the driver as Keith Reid and the pedestrian as Youseline Simonvil.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with detectives, according to BSO.
The investigation is being handled by the BSO Traffic Homicide Unit. Residents who travel through the West Sample Road and Northwest Fifth Terrace area should expect the case to remain under review as detectives work to determine the circumstances of the crash.
