POMPANO BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying this man who they say attempted to rob a 13-year-old boy in a Pompano Beach fast food restaurant on August 19th, 2022.

Broward Sheriff’s Office says that a man attempted to rob a 13-year-old at a fast food restaurant, and detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit are releasing surveillance video of the incident to identify and locate the attempted thief.

Detectives say that the crime occurred around 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19, near the 2200 block of North Federal Highway in Pompano Beach. According to investigators, a male subject wearing an orange sleeveless shirt and blue shorts tried to steal a gold chain off a juvenile’s neck by force.

Surveillance video of the incident shows the adult male approaching the victim and his friend inside the business. The three appear to be having a conversation when the attempted thief is seen reaching toward the juvenile’s neck. The would-be robber attempts to rip the necklace off, but the chain does not break. The victim tells the subject he is going to call the police, and the individual walks out of the restaurant and into an older model gray Nissan. The subject then flees the area northbound on North Federal Highway.

Investigators are asking anyone with information on the subject’s identity to contact BSO Robbery Detective Keith Rosen at 954-321-4253.
