Hollywood Police Detective's Wife Fighting Stage IV Breast Cancer, FOP Seeks Community Support

HOLLYWOOD, FL — A Hollywood police detective's wife is fighting Stage IV breast cancer just months after the couple welcomed their first child, and the Fraternal Order of Police is asking South Florida to help.

The Hollywood Fraternal Order of Police announced a public fundraiser this week for Detective Alex Falcon, his wife Angie, and their newborn daughter, Daniela. Angie, a pediatric emergency room registered nurse at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, was recently diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer, according to the Hollywood FOP and the GoFundMe campaign set up on the family's behalf.

The diagnosis came only months after Daniela's birth on January 19, 2026, and about a year after the couple married on November 2, 2024, according to the fundraiser page.

"When one of our own is hurting, we stand together," the Hollywood FOP said in its appeal, describing the situation as "the fight of their lives."

The fundraiser is being run through the Hollywood FOP-Heroes Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that will administer the donations through its assistance program, according to the GoFundMe. Organizers say the money will help cover medical expenses, treatment costs, childcare, lost income, and daily living expenses so the Falcon family can focus on treatment and time with Daniela.

Angie has spent her career in pediatric emergency care, according to the fundraiser. Detective Falcon serves with the Hollywood Police Department in Broward County, according to the FOP.

The public appeal comes as Boca Post has been covering another South Florida law enforcement family facing cancer. The Coral Springs Fraternal Order of Police is raising money for Coral Springs Police Officer Karla Torres, who is undergoing treatment after a breast cancer diagnosis, as previously reported.

The Coral Springs FOP shared the Falcon family's story publicly and said its members were "notified of another South Florida law enforcement family facing cancer" as its own fundraiser was closing.

The Hollywood FOP said donations, shares, and messages of support all help.
