Brandon Scott Labiner Arrested, Charged With 1st Degree Murder.

UPDATE

Brandon Scott Labiner has since committed suicide while in jail, PBSO confirms.

UPDATE

Brandon Labiner appeared in court this morning following his first night in jail where a judge determined he is to be held without bond, as is the norm with homicide cases.

The Boca Raton Police Department is still refusing to identify the victim or even Brandon Labiner as a suspect in this case; however, Boca Post has confirmed Labiner is the suspect per court records.

According to the preliminary investigation, Brandon Labiner rode a bicycle from his office at 900 N. Federal Highway to his father’s office building, located about 3 miles away, at 5499 N. Federal Highway. Investigators say that when the suspect (presumably Brandon Labiner) arrived, he paced around the underground parking lot for a few minutes after removing a firearm from his bag.

After about 40 minutes, the victim (presumably Paul Labiner) is then seen in the CCTV footage getting into a scuffle with the suspect, who appeared to be waiting. They then go out of view of the camera. The suspect then reappears holding his arm in a downward motion towards where they found the body of the victim. The suspect then flees the scene.

BRPD SWAT engaged the suspect, Brandon Labiner, at his office located at 900 N. Federal Highway just after 6 PM. Labiner had an active warrant for DUI out of Broward County for which he was arrested while BRPD continued their investigation of the murder that had happened only hours before.

Officers eventually entered Brandon Labiner’s office and found a handgun and a bicycle that matched the description from the video Labiner also had a note that only had his attorney’s name written on it, along with a gun cleaning kit.

While BRPD is declaring Marsy’s law to protect the identity of the victim (and suspect), it is known and widely accepted that Brandon Labiner is facing a first-degree murder charge for the shooting death of his father, Paul Labiner.

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — Brandon Labiner, a Boca Raton attorney, is facing a first-degree murder charge after Police investigate a death at the office building where Labiner’s father also practices law.

While the Boca Raton Police Department has not yet confirmed the identity of the victim, it is widely rumored that Labiner killed his father at his office located at The Monterey, a busy office park located at 5499 N. Federal Highway. Police say the body was found just after 4 PM on Saturday, July 1st, 2023.

Later that evening, BRPD SWAT responded to the area of  900 N Federal Highway where they safely took a person of interest into custody. While BRPD never confirmed Labiner was that person, it quickly became a rumor on social media that he was.

Boca Raton Police Department has charged Brandon Scott Labiner with 1st-degree homicide with a firearm this morning. He was previously only being held on an out-of-county warrant, which confirmed the speculations that he was the person of interest.

So, who is Brandon Labiner?

Boca Post has learned that Brandon Labiner, 34, of Boca Raton, is the son of 68-year-old Paul Labiner (suspected victim). Brandon Labiner, like his father, practiced law in the area. According to court records, Brandon previously worked for his father. Brandon was recently disbarred, following a complaint from his dad, after he allegedly stole $450,000 from his mother’s trust fund. Brandon is also currently going through a divorce.

  1. Paul Labiner was a fine attorney and good friend. This is a terrible report.
I am shocked how a son could do such a think.

  2. Joel Mason this is tragic. I’m so sorry for the loss of your good friend Paul Labiner. I’m shocked as well how a son can do this. He took advantage of his father’s and mother Love and financial support. He doesn’t realize the damage he caused that will forever change this family. If he did it he needs to pay the price
