FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) —FDLE is looking into an incident involving a deputy shooting that took place in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday afternoon.

The situation kicked off at 1;49 in the afternoon on Saturday; December 14th when Broward County Regional Communications got a call about a domestic aggravated assault near the 7600 block of Granville Drive in Tamarac. The report mentioned that Robert Drangel—an armed adult male—showed up at a house and aimed a firearm at his estranged wife and another woman before fleeing in a vehicle owned by one of them.

Detectives stated that Drangel had to wear an ankle monitor as a result of his arrest in September for aggravated stalking following a restraining order related to violence issues. Deputies then put out an alert, for Drangel and his vehicle.

Around 2:15 p.m. they found Drangels vehicle near Hollywood Boulevard and I‐95. Initiated a chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies heading northbound. During this pursuit in Fort Lauderdale at 200 Southwest 21st Avenue area a BSO deputy utilized a maneuver to stop Drangels vehicle called PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique). Following this action and due to perceiving a threat from Drangel within the vehicles vicinity four BSO deputies discharged their firearms at Drangel resulting in his injuries. Emergency responders from Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived on scene. Drangel was pronounced deceased thereafter.

At the scene of the incident law enforcement officers found a weapon.
