POMPANO BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Pompano Beach, and Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit detectives are investigating what happened.
The crash was reported at about 12:55 p.m. Monday, March 30, at the intersection of West Copans Road and Northwest Third Avenue, according to BSO.
Detectives said Michelle Tampellini was driving a 2022 Jeep Wrangler SUV westbound on West Copans Road approaching Northwest Third Avenue. At the same time, Teresa Masone was driving a 2011 Chevy Lincoln MKS sedan eastbound on West Copans approaching Northwest Third Avenue. Antoinette Biamonte was in the right front passenger seat of the Lincoln.
As both vehicles entered the intersection, detectives said the driver of the Jeep made a left turn directly into the path of the Lincoln. The front passenger side of the Jeep hit the front driver’s side of the Lincoln in what investigators described as an offset, angular head-on type of collision.
BSO said the impact caused the Jeep to rotate counterclockwise and roll southeast toward the sidewalk. The Lincoln was redirected south and came to a final rest facing south in front of the northbound lanes of Northwest Third Avenue.
BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded. The occupants of the Lincoln were taken to Broward Health North. The driver of the Jeep remained on scene, BSO said.
Later Monday, March 30, Biamonte was pronounced dead at the hospital due to injuries sustained in the crash, according to investigators.
The authority for the investigation sits with BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit. Detectives said the investigation remains ongoing.
For residents in Boca Raton and across Palm Beach County who drive into Broward regularly, the key details so far are the location and the reported sequence of events at the intersection. BSO has not released any further findings beyond the preliminary investigation and has not announced any next steps beyond continuing the investigation.
