Joanne Rigg Passed Away. Police Looking For Black Tahoe / Suburban.

POMPANO BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A woman was struck by a SUV and killed in Pompano Beach early on Friday morning.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is currently investigating a tragic hit and run incident that occurred early Friday morning, resulting in the death of a pedestrian.

At around 6:30 a.m., authorities received a call from Broward County Regional Communications reporting an individual lying on the road in the vicinity of the 1400 block of Northwest 31st Avenue in Pompano Beach. Deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue promptly responded to the scene. Emergency crews discovered an adult woman with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Tragically, Joanne Rigg was pronounced dead at the scene by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Rigg was walking westbound across Northwest 31st Avenue when she was hit by a southbound vehicle traveling from the Florida Turnpike. Shockingly, after the collision, the driver did not stop and continued driving south.

Detectives have determined that parts found at the crash site belong to a black Chevrolet Suburban or Tahoe manufactured between 2017 and 2020. The vehicle is expected to have noticeable damage to its front grille and hood.

If you have any information regarding either the driver or vehicle involved in this hit and run incident, please contact BSO THI Detective Carlos De Jesus at 954 321 4842.
