Jose Rubio Carachure, 17, Passed Away

POMPANO BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — 17-year-old Jose O. Rubio Carachure died after being involved in a high speed, single-vehicle crash.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is currently investigating a tragic single vehicle accident that took place on Saturday, January 20th, in Pompano Beach.

At 2:06 a.m. on Saturday morning, detectives from the BSO Traffic Homicide Unit and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to reports of a fatal crash involving a single vehicle near the intersection of South Dixie Highway and McNab Road in Pompano Beach.

Based on the initial investigation, it was determined that Jose Carachure was driving a 2015 Lexus heading southbound on South Dixie Highway towards McNab Road when he lost control of the vehicle. According to detectives, the Lexus veered off the road just before McNab Road and ended up mounting the sidewalk on the west side of South Dixie Highway.

The Lexus then continued across McNab Road towards the southwest corner of the intersection. Eventually, it crashed through a chain link fence surrounding a building under construction before finally coming to rest after colliding with the building itself. Paramedics rushed Carachure to the hospital where he was sadly declared deceased.

Investigators say that excessive speed played a significant role in causing this accident. The investigation is ongoing.
