BROWARD COUNTY, FL — Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a murder between roommates at a Pompano Beach home, with an arrest already made.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to a call about a deceased person inside a residence at 2912 N.W. Second St. in Pompano Beach, according to BSO.

Detectives said the victim, Karim Shouman, was found in the kitchen. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene.

BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to the home to investigate.

According to detectives, the suspect, Shenard Jennings, and Shouman were roommates who had ongoing arguments. Detectives said the situation escalated and Jennings punched and beat Shouman, killing him.

BSO said Jennings was transported to BSO’s Main Jail. He faces one count of first-degree murder.

The case remains under investigation by BSO’s Homicide Unit. Residents who see a heavy law enforcement presence around an active death investigation should expect a secured scene and follow directions from deputies and fire rescue personnel while investigators work.
