SOUTH BAY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca West Country Club, a private residential community based in Boca Raton, is again putting club resources behind affordable homeownership in Palm Beach County, sponsoring its 16th local Habitat for Humanity home over the last 15 years and taking part in a recent groundbreaking in South Bay.

Club board members and Boca West President, COO, and General Manager Matthew Linderman participated in the ceremony for the build site at 145 NW 10th Ave., South Bay, according to the organization. The project marks the latest partnership between Boca West and Habitat for Humanity South Palm Beach County, which serves Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, and Delray Beach.

The home is being built for Vintwon Jones, who was born and raised in Belle Glade. Jones is an Army National Guard veteran who has served since 2020, and the club said he pursued the program after encouragement from his mother to explore Habitat’s homeownership path.

Habitat’s model is structured around earned homeownership, with partner families completing program requirements that include “sweat equity” and educational components. Boca West said Jones will work through the program, putting in sweat equity while learning about budgeting and home maintenance as part of the process.

The goal, as presented through the Habitat program, is long-term stability through an affordable mortgage. Habitat for Humanity South Palm Beach County describes its homes as being repaid through a non-interest-bearing mortgage, with monthly payments covering principal, taxes, and insurance. The structure is designed to make the home attainable while reinforcing responsibility through consistent payments.

For Jones, the build is framed as a chance to establish permanent roots close to where he grew up. Boca West said Jones has a history of service beyond his military role, including donating food to people experiencing homelessness and traveling to Jamaica to help build a school and church.

“We were so inspired by Vintwon and were honored to help him achieve his dream of home ownership in partnership with Habitat for Humanity,” Linderman said. He added that investing in the local community is important to Boca West’s members and team, and described the club’s ongoing support for community programs as part of a broader legacy.

Habitat for Humanity South Palm Beach County was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1991. Its work includes coordinating home sponsorships, selecting partner families, and running the program requirements that culminate in a completed home and a mortgage that is intended to keep payments within reach of the homeowner.

The South Bay build underscores a Palm Beach County-wide connection that stretches beyond Boca Raton’s city limits. Boca West, located in the heart of Boca Raton, describes itself as a resident-only luxury country club community spanning 1,400 acres. The club points to a range of amenities and recent capital projects, including a $45 million expansion program that includes a 96,000-square-foot aquatics center with five pools and a new restaurant bar, plus ongoing upgrades to its sports and spa facilities.

For residents tracking local community investment, the practical next steps are straightforward: the home build moves forward through Habitat’s construction process, while the future homeowner continues completing program requirements tied to sweat equity and training. Habitat’s end point is a finished home and a repayment plan through monthly mortgage payments that include principal, taxes, and insurance.
