COCONUT CREEK, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A stolen car investigation involving Coconut Creek Police and Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies escalated into a pursuit and left the Florida Turnpike’s southbound lanes closed near Sunrise Boulevard, authorities said.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted Coconut Creek Police with a stolen vehicle investigation that originated out of Fort Lauderdale. Authorities said Broward Sheriff’s Office involvement began in the area of Sample Road and the Florida Turnpike.

During the investigation, investigators said the driver of the stolen vehicle struck a marked Broward Sheriff’s Office unit and then struck a marked Coconut Creek Police unit.
