FLORIDA — A Florida Silver Alert has been issued for an 82-year-old man who was last known to be in Estero, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

FDLE identified the missing person as Martin Sheehan. He is described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 170 pounds, with white hair and blue eyes.

The last known area listed on the state alert is Estero in Lee County. The alert is being distributed through FDLE’s Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse.

Silver Alerts are used in Florida to help locate missing older adults, and they rely on the public to watch for someone matching the description and to report tips quickly to law enforcement. For South Florida residents, the key point is that these cases can move fast across county lines, and information from drivers, businesses, and neighbors can matter even when the last known location is outside Palm Beach and Broward.

Authority for the investigation and response sits with local law enforcement in the area where the person was last known to be, with FDLE issuing and circulating the statewide alert.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 239-477-1000 or call 911.

Residents who think they have seen the missing man should be ready to share what they saw and where, and to contact law enforcement right away using the numbers provided in the alert.
