Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to a duplex fire on Dusenburg Road in western Delray Beach.

DELRAY BEACH, FL — The fire was already heavy in the back of the duplex.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said Battalion 4 units responded to a duplex fire on Dusenburg Road in western Delray Beach on Saturday evening, where crews found fire inside one of the units and a back patio area fully engulfed.

Everyone inside had evacuated safely, according to PBCFR.

The fire involved one side of the duplex, but crews were also working to protect the neighboring unit. PBCFR said firefighters cut a ventilation hole above the fire, allowing super-heated smoke and gases to escape.

That move helped keep the fire from extending across the common attic into the attached unit, according to the agency.

No injuries were reported.

PBCFR said the Red Cross has been assisting those affected by the fire.

The cause of the fire, the number of people displaced, and the extent of damage were not included in the information provided by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
