COOPER CITY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — An individual has been taken into custody in connection with a tragic accident that occurred in Cooper City.

The victim, Justice Fielder, has been identified as deceased. The incident took place near Sheridan Street and Solano Avenue early Saturday morning. The driver, Ivan Billie Jr., was found with non life threatening injuries and is currently in custody. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash involving a 2023 Chevrolet Camaro and Fielder. He was driving east on Sheridan Street towards Solano Avenue in the center lane. The Chevrolet approached another vehicle ahead in the same lane, prompting Billie Jr. To try to maneuver around it. However, he lost control of his vehicle as he passed the other car and swerved towards the center divider, hitting a tree. The impact caused the Chevrolet to slide across and hit another tree.

After hitting the second tree, the Chevrolet crossed over into the westbound lanes, heading northeast until it collided with a large concrete utility pole, breaking it at its base and causing it to fall over. The car split in half upon hitting the pole and continued moving eastward until it eventually came to a stop on the westbound lanes.

Investigators noticed that after the accident, Billie Jr. Was seen walking away from the crash site in the median covered in blood. Upon further investigation, they confirmed that he was indeed the driver of the vehicle registered under his name. Billie Jr. Was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.

After Billie Jr. Was given the all clear from the hospital and discharged, he was taken into custody and transferred to BSO’s Main Jail. He is facing multiple charges, including vehicular homicide and driving under the influence, which led to a tragic loss of life. The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
