BSO Seeking Hit-And-Run Driver In Deadly Wilton Manors Crash - Alton G Johnson

Alton G. Johnson Passed Away

WILTON MANORS, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — BSO is seeking the driver in a a hit-and-run crash that killed Alton Johnson in Wilton Manors last year.

The Traffic Homicide unit of the Broward Sheriffs Office has recently initiated an investigation, into the death of a 62 year man who was discovered lying on the side of a road in Wilton Manors July.

9;41 p.m. On Wednesday, July 12, 2022, officers from the Wilton Manors Police Department responded to a report about a man lying on the west side of the road near the 3000 block of North Andrews Avenue. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue also arrived at the scene. Transported the victim to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Upon WMPDs request, detectives from BSOs homicide and traffic homicide units were dispatched to conduct an investigation. Initial findings at the scene did not reveal any evidence suggesting that the victim had been struck by a vehicle leading BSO to assign it to their Homicide Unit.

On Tuesday September 5, 2023, BSOs traffic homicide detectives were informed by the Broward County Medical Examiners Office that the victims injuries were consistent with being hit by a motor vehicle. As a result they reassigned the case to BSOs Traffic Homicide unit.
