BOCA RATON, FL — A text message helped get family members out of the house.
According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit, a daughter told deputies she received an emergency text from her mother saying she was trapped in a bedroom and that her stepfather, Sergey Korol, was threatening to kill her.
Korol, 63, of Boca Raton, was arrested June 21, 2026, in a Palm Beach County domestic violence case, according to jail and court records. He is charged with false imprisonment, domestic battery by strangulation, firing a missile into a dwelling, aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, and domestic battery by touch or strike.
The charges are allegations. Korol has not been convicted in the case.
According to the affidavit, road patrol deputies responded after the daughter contacted law enforcement. Deputies coordinated with her to get Korol out of the bedroom, the affidavit states. Once he left, the victim was able to run from the house and was taken to safety by deputies.
Korol was then taken into custody, according to PBSO.
The affidavit says an investigator later spoke with the victim at West Boca Medical Center, where she gave a sworn recorded statement. Boca Post is withholding her name and identifying details because the case involves domestic violence victim-protection issues.
According to the affidavit, the victim told investigators the incident began June 20, 2026, after dinner drinks and a conversation about a domestic dispute involving a firearm from the night before. The affidavit states the conversation moved from a courtyard into a bathroom, where the victim said Korol accused her of infidelity.
The victim told investigators Korol pulled out a Taser and used it on her multiple times, according to the affidavit. She said she fought back and made it back to the courtyard, where she was taken to the ground, had her hair pulled, was punched, and was choked, the affidavit states.
Investigators wrote that the victim reported being brought back into the bathroom, where Korol allegedly used a rope and strap to bind her to a chair. The affidavit states the rope was also placed around her neck, and that Korol allegedly threatened to kill her while questioning her.
The affidavit states the victim later reported being led around the bedroom by the rope and then tied to bed posts. According to investigators, she said Korol placed the barrel of a revolver against her forehead and eye before moving the gun near her head and firing it once.
The affidavit says the incident continued in waves for hours, with periods of talking, resting, drinking, smoking, and drug use. Investigators described it as a continuous event from about 10:30 a.m. June 20 until about 10 a.m. June 21.
After the victim was examined, the investigator wrote that she had bruising to her chin, swelling and bruising on her head, abrasions on her wrists and ankles consistent with being tied or bound, and abrasions and bruising on her knees.
Palm Beach County court records show probable cause was found June 22, 2026. The docket also shows a no-contact order was filed, along with conditions barring weapons or firearms and alcohol, illegal drugs, or non-prescription drugs with random testing.
Jail records show Korol was booked at the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center at 9:10 p.m. June 21, 2026. Court and jail records list current bonds totaling $130,000 across the five charges.
Court records show a 30-day return appearance is scheduled for July 21, 2026, and an initial case conference is scheduled for Aug. 13, 2026.
