BOCA RATON, FL — The Boca Raton Resort is facing a civil negligence lawsuit in Palm Beach County Circuit Court after a New York visitor alleged an elevator at the East Camino Real property fell to the ground with her inside, according to a complaint filed on June 30.
The plaintiff, Theresa Larocca, a resident of Kings County, New York, filed the lawsuit against The Boca Raton, LLC, doing business as The Boca Raton Resort. Court records show the case, styled Theresa Larocca v. The Boca Raton, LLC, was assigned case number 502026CA007368XXXAMB in the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit, Civil Division AD, and was e-filed with Clerk Michael A. Caruso's office at 11:18 a.m. on June 30, 2026.
Larocca is represented by attorney Travis L. Russell of Farah & Farah, P.A., a firm based in Fort Myers, according to the complaint. The filing seeks damages in excess of $50,000, exclusive of interest, costs, and attorney fees.
The complaint alleges the incident occurred on February 27, 2025, at the resort located at 501 East Camino Real in Boca Raton. According to the filing, Larocca was on the property as a business invitee when the elevator she was inside "plummeted and crashed to the ground." The complaint states the fall caused severe personal injuries.
The lawsuit brings a single count of negligence based on premises liability. The complaint alleges The Boca Raton, LLC negligently maintained the elevator and failed to warn Larocca of a dangerous condition. According to the filing, the alleged dangerous condition was either known to or created by the defendant and had existed for a sufficient length of time that the defendant should have known about it.
The complaint alleges Larocca suffered bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, hospitalization and medical expenses, loss of earnings and future earning ability, and aggravation of a previously existing condition. The lawsuit alleges the losses are either permanent or continuing.
The Boca Raton, LLC is identified in the complaint as a foreign limited liability company authorized to conduct business in Florida and Palm Beach County. The filing reviewed by Boca Post does not include a response from the defendant.
