Today's Weather - Wednesday, June 24, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL — Expect a mostly sunny and very hot Wednesday, with a high near 91 and heat index values pushing around 103 this afternoon. A few showers and thunderstorms may develop after 2 p.m., but coverage should stay limited. Any storm that forms can still bring frequent lightning, a quick heavy downpour, and a burst of gusty wind. Tonight stays warm and muggy near 80, with a small chance of an early-evening storm before skies trend clearer late

Boca Raton’s weather pattern stays fairly steady today and Thursday, and it’s a classic early-summer setup: lots of heat, light winds, and just enough moisture for a few pop-up storms. The National Weather Service notes weak high pressure nearby along with a broad “lid” of sinking air aloft.

In plain terms, that combination tends to limit how widespread storms can become. At the same time, the atmosphere still has plenty of humidity to work with today, and that’s why a few thunderstorms can still develop once the sea breezes get going this afternoon.

Storm chances are not zero for the east coast metro, but the best focus for development is expected inland and toward southwest Florida where boundaries collide more often. Boca Raton sits on the edge of that action, so the forecast keeps rain chances modest (around 30%).

If a storm does drift toward the coast later in the day or early evening, it may move slowly. Slow movers are the ones that can dump a quick burst of heavy rain over a small area, along with frequent lightning and a brief gust.

For boaters and beachgoers near Boca Raton, conditions stay generally manageable, but keep an eye on the sky late day. Today, winds run southwest 5 to 10 knots, turning more southerly later, with seas less than 2 feet and light chop on the Intracoastal.

Tonight, south winds increase to 10 to 15 knots after midnight with seas around 2 feet. Thursday and Friday bring a more consistent southeast breeze (often 10 to 15 knots) and a moderate chop at times.

While most storms should stay over land, any slow-moving evening storm that drifts offshore can briefly create locally hazardous gusts and higher seas.
