Today's Weather - Sunday, May 31, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL — Expect a hot, humid Sunday with a mix of sun and clouds, then a higher chance of showers and thunderstorms after mid-afternoon. The biggest concern isn’t widespread severe weather, but a few storms that can drop very heavy rain in a short time and briefly flood low-lying streets. High temperatures reach the upper 80s, with “feels like” values near 100 during the afternoon. Tonight stays warm and mostly cloudy, with evening storms fading and lows around the upper 70s

South Florida’s weather pattern isn’t changing much yet, and that matters for Boca Raton today. The National Weather Service notes the broader setup over the U.S.

is slowly relaxing, but we’re still in a pattern that keeps plenty of moisture flowing over the peninsula. That moisture is being fed north and east from the Gulf and the tropics, and it’s helping maintain a thick layer of mid-level clouds at times.

The key detail for Sunday is that the cloud cover may be more “broken” than it was yesterday. If we get a few bigger breaks of sunshine, the ground heats up faster, and that can help kick off late-day thunderstorms—especially along the east coast sea breeze.

Exactly where storms form is hard to pin down this far ahead, because it depends on where those sun breaks set up and where small boundaries form as the sea breeze pushes inland. If storms do develop near Boca Raton this afternoon and early evening, they could be efficient rain-makers.

For the Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach coastal waters, winds stay light today (generally 5–10 knots), shifting from northwest to east late, with seas around 2 feet. Boating conditions are mostly manageable, but scattered thunderstorms can create sudden gusty winds, rougher seas, and dangerous lightning.

Early next week, winds trend more westerly and increase at times, and a small northerly swell may move down the Gulf Stream Monday into Tuesday. By Wednesday night into Thursday, northeast winds and building seas (potentially 5–7 feet offshore, higher at times) could make for choppier, less favorable conditions near the coast and inlets.
