Today's Weather - Thursday, June 18, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL — Mostly sunny skies will dominate today, but the heat will be the main story. A Heat Advisory is in effect from noon to 7 p.m., with heat index values up to around 106 in Boca Raton. Winds will be out of the southeast at 6 to 14 mph with occasional gusts near 20 mph, keeping it humid near the coast. Storm chances are low in town today, but a few thunderstorms may pop up inland late this afternoon and early evening

South Florida stays locked in a summer heat pattern today, and Boca Raton will feel it quickly by late morning. The National Weather Service has a Heat Advisory posted from 12 p.m.

to 7 p.m. for all of South Florida, and the forecast for Boca calls for a high near 91 with “feels like” values up to about 106.

The bigger regional message is that some spots away from the immediate coast could push even higher heat index readings, so plan for dangerous heat if you’ll be outdoors. The setup behind today’s forecast is a weak, light-wind pattern as Atlantic high pressure shifts position offshore.

With winds not strong enough to sweep storms quickly toward the coast, the day’s main trigger for thunderstorms will be the typical sea-breeze boundaries that form on both coasts and drift inland. That’s why the best chance for storms later today is over interior South Florida rather than right along the beaches.

For the Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach coastal waters, expect south to southeasterly winds around 10 to 15 knots today and tonight, with seas around 2 feet and light chop on the Intracoastal. Conditions stay generally manageable outside of storms, but any thunderstorm can quickly create locally higher winds and rougher seas.

Boaters should watch for lightning and sudden gusts near storms, especially Friday into the weekend as storm coverage increases. Beachgoers should also remember that persistent onshore flow and building afternoon sea breezes can make it feel hotter along the sand even when the ocean breeze is up.
