Today's Weather - Saturday, May 30, 2026
BOCA RATON, FL — Mostly cloudy skies will keep Boca Raton a bit less stormy than usual today, with only a small chance of a late-afternoon thunderstorm. It will still feel summerlike and sticky, with a high near 88 and heat index values pushing close to 100. Winds stay light, generally out of the west, which favors fewer storms near the coast until later in the day. Tonight stays warm and mostly cloudy near 78, with only a small early-evening shower or storm chance
Today’s forecast is being shaped by a broad, unsettled pattern over the eastern U.S., with a weaker disturbance sliding through the Southeast while deeper moisture and cloud cover spread across Florida. In plain terms: we have enough humidity for storms, but the atmosphere is also getting “capped” by extra mid-level clouds and slightly drier air near the surface.
That combination makes it harder for widespread thunderstorms to get going this afternoon. The National Weather Service notes that storm coverage should be very low today, and if anything pops up it would most likely be late in the day and closer to the Atlantic side.
For Boca Raton, that means the best window for a brief shower or thunderstorm is late afternoon into early evening, but many neighborhoods may stay dry. Even with fewer storms, heat remains a headline.
Highs reach the upper 80s, and with humidity the “feels like” temperature can approach 100. That’s a small break compared to hotter days, but it’s still enough to raise heat stress if you’re outdoors for long stretches.
For the Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach coastal waters, winds stay gentle today, mainly west at 5 to 10 knots, with seas 2 feet or less and light chop in the Intracoastal. A small northerly swell begins to show up tonight into Sunday, helping seas build to around 2 feet, then 2 to 3 feet Sunday night.
Early next week, seas in the Gulf Stream may run higher as the swell and onshore flow increase, with occasional 4 to 5 feet possible by Monday night into midweek. Boaters should plan around multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms; winds and seas can jump quickly near storms.
Beachgoers should also keep an eye on changing surf conditions as the swell builds.
