Rae Kotler Arrested By Boca Raton Police For Child Neglect

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — Rae Kotler of Boca Raton has been arrested and charged with child neglect, according to jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Rae Kotler, 66, of the 7000 block of NW 3rd Ave in Boca Raton, has been arrested by the Boca Raton Police Department. Boca Post has been notified that the charge filed is child neglect (without great bodily harm).

According to a police report submitted by the Boca Raton Police Department, at 5 PM on Saturday, September 3rd, officers responded to 7100 NW 2nd Ave in reference to a report of child neglect. A security guard advised that an 8-year-old juvenile approached the security gate of the neighborhood at around 1617 hours and advised that Rae Kotler, left him in the swimming pool at his house alone and had threatened to kill him.

Officers met with the juvenile who advised that he was swimming at home with Kotler and that at one point he caused her phone to “glitch” which made her upset. The juvenile advised that while he was in the swimming pool, Kotler told him to stay there while she left to get her phone fixed. The juvenile advised that after Kotler left the residence, he then jumped over the gate on the side of the residence and sprinted to the security guard gate where the security guard contacted 9-1-1.

The security guard said he observed the child approach the security gate of the neighborhood at around 1617 hours and told him that Kotler had left him in the swimming pool and threatened to kill him. The security guard stated that it was approximately 10 minutes that juvenile victim 1 was at the guard gate before Kotler came back. The security guard also advised that after Kotler returned to the guard gate, she then went back to her residence several times, leaving the juvenile at the guard gate each time.

Officers spoke to Kotler who denied threatening to kill the 8-year-old. Kotler stated that she is the primary caregiver of the juvenile. Kotler stated that the juvenile caused the keyboard on her iPhone to show only emojis. Kotler advised that she told the child that she was going to take her phone to get fixed. Kotler stated that she told the child to come with her, but he refused. Kotler then stated that she left the child in the pool unattended and that she was gone from the house for about 10 minutes before returning to the neighborhood and observing the child at the guard gate. Kotler also advised that she locked all the doors to the house prior to leaving the child in the swimming pool.

Officers determined that Kotler failed to provide supervision to the child while he was in the pool which could have caused serious physical injury or a substantial risk of death to the 8-year-old. DCF responded and took custody of the child. Kotler was placed under arrest and transported to Palm Beach County Jail.

According to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Rae Kotler holds an active Real Estate Broker’s License. According to Realtor.com, Kotler is a broker at M.Kotler realty in Surfside, FL.

This arrest of course comes only days after Boca Post reported that another Boca Raton broker was arrested for child abuse last week after he was accused of leaving his young daughter in the car while he drank beers in the Blaze Pizza bathroom.

Rae Kotler was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 2:18 AM on 9/4/22. Rae Kotler has been released from jail without bond.
