BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Southbound lanes at Military Trail and Northwest 19th Street were closed Sunday evening because of an accident, according to a traffic advisory from Boca Raton Police.

The advisory, sent at 6:52 p.m. Sunday, said the “SB lanes at Military/NW 19th St are closed due to an accident” and urged drivers to seek an alternate route.

The closure affects a key north-south corridor in Boca Raton that many residents use to move through the city and connect to nearby neighborhoods and commercial areas. With the southbound lanes shut down at the intersection, drivers should expect delays and rerouting in the immediate area.

Boca Raton Police did not provide additional details in the advisory about the number of vehicles involved, whether anyone was injured, or how long the closure is expected to last.

Authority for the traffic control and the advisory sits with the Boca Raton Police Department, which issued the notice to the public. The department’s message was framed as a non-emergency traffic advisory.

What happens next is tied to the on-scene response and roadway clearance. Until the southbound lanes reopen, motorists traveling through the Military Trail and Northwest 19th Street area should plan for detours and allow extra time.

Residents should watch for updated traffic advisories from Boca Raton Police and follow any posted signs or directions in the area. Drivers are being asked to use alternate routes while the southbound lanes remain closed.
