VIDEO: Don’t Laser Me Bro – Boca Man Arrested For Pointing Laser At Sheriff Helicopter

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A Boca Raton man was arrested on felony charges after allegedly pointing a laser pointer at a Sheriff’s helicopter while BSO was investigating a robbery in nearby Deerfield Beach.

Anthony Winborn, 56, who lives on SW 8th Street in Boca Raton, was arrested after allegedly aiming a green laser pointer at a Broward Sheriff’s Office Helicopter as they were actively working a robbery investigation in nearby Deerfield Beach. BSO notified Boca Raton PD of the incident while they were flying in the area. Responding BRPD officers found Winborn matching the description provided by BSO.

When officers spoke to Winborn he admitted that he saw the helicopter and was just having a little fun with aiming a green laser pointer at it. Winborn acknowledged to Police that he knew a laser could blind someone and cause a helicopter pilot to crash. Winborn admitted to throwing the laser pointer into his neighbor’s bushes because he knew he was in trouble.

Winborn was arrested and charged with the following:

  • 784.062(3A) MISUSE OF LASER LIGHTING DEVICES
  • 918.13(1A) ALTER DESTROY CONCEAL REMO REC DOC PHYS EVIDENCE

Winborn has seen a judge and has since been released from jail on a $6,000 bond. The judge ordered that he does not possess a laser in the future.
