BOCA RATON, FL — A Palm Beach County civil complaint alleges a 6-year-old camper was injured after slipping and falling on an overly wet floor at American Heritage School of Boca Delray, according to a lawsuit filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court.
The complaint, filed June 3, 2026, is captioned Jared Pruzan, as Parent and Natural Guardian of J.P., a minor, v. American Heritage School of Boca Delray Inc., American Learning Systems of Boca Delray Inc., and American Learning Systems Inc. The case is listed as Case No. 502026CA006196XXXAMB in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County, Florida.
The plaintiff, Jared Pruzan, is suing as the parent and natural guardian of J.P., a minor child. The complaint was filed by Cowen Edwards, PLLC, a Fort Lauderdale law firm listed as counsel for the plaintiff.
According to the complaint, J.P. was six years old at the time of the alleged incident and was enrolled as a camper at the premises known as American Heritage School of Boca Delray, located in Palm Beach County. The lawsuit alleges the defendants owned, operated, managed, maintained, or controlled the premises.
The complaint claims that before and at the time of the incident, the floor surface where the fall occurred was “excessively and unreasonably wet,” creating what the lawsuit describes as a dangerous condition for people walking through the area.
According to the filing, the alleged fall happened on or about July 2, 2024. The lawsuit alleges J.P. slipped and fell on the wet floor and suffered severe personal injuries. The claims are allegations made in a civil complaint and have not been proven in court.
The complaint brings negligence claims against American Heritage School of Boca Delray Inc., American Learning Systems of Boca Delray Inc., and American Learning Systems Inc. In each count, the plaintiff alleges the defendant owed a duty to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition, correct dangerous conditions, and warn of dangers it knew or should have known about.
The lawsuit further alleges the defendants failed to properly maintain the floor in a safe and dry condition, failed to inspect the premises for dangerous or transient wet floor conditions with reasonable regularity, failed to warn invitees, and failed to adequately supervise the minor child. Those claims are presented as allegations in the complaint.
The complaint claims J.P. suffered bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, hospitalization expenses, medical and nursing care expenses, and other losses. The filing seeks damages in excess of $50,000, exclusive of interest and costs, and demands a jury trial.
