BOCA RATON,FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton Police responded to Town Center at Boca Raton Tuesday night after an unknown caller made a bomb threat targeting the mall, prompting officers to search the property for suspicious activity.
Police first announced the investigation shortly after 8 p.m., saying numerous officers were on scene at the shopping center while law enforcement checked the property and surrounding areas. At the time of the initial response, officers had not located any suspicious items or activity connected to the threat.
The mall regularly draws heavy evening traffic from across South Florida, particularly during dinner and shopping hours. The incident came only hours after another possible swatting incident at Boca Raton Middle School that happened just hours earlier.
By approximately 8:35 p.m., Boca Raton Police said officers still had not located anything suspicious during the search. Police stated they would remain on the property as a precaution while the investigation continued.Investigators said the call may have been a swatting incident, though officers continued treating the threat seriously while clearing the property and ensuring public safety.
Swatting calls involve false threats intended to trigger large emergency responses from law enforcement or other first responders. Even when no threat is ultimately found, agencies typically conduct full investigations due to the risks posed to crowded public spaces and the possibility of copycat incidents.
Police have not released information about how the threat was communicated or whether investigators have identified a suspect. The Boca Raton Police Department remains the lead agency investigating the incident. Officers were expected to maintain a visible presence at the mall Tuesday night while the precautionary response continued.
No evacuations, injuries, or suspicious devices were reported as of Tuesday night.
For shoppers and nearby residents, police said the investigation remained active but emphasized that officers had not located any evidence of an actual threat during their search.
