The individual who struck and fatally injured a woman with his truck on Saturday evening was apprehended after the tragic event occurred.

Around 9;33 p.m. on Saturday evening of Sept 21st. sheriffs deputies of BSO and firefighters from Pompano Beach were called in for a hit and run incident near 130 S.W Eighth Street in Pompano Beach area. Upon arrival on scene emergency responders found two individuals. Brenda Hernandez Amaya and Omar Mungia Henrique who were hit by a vehicle and dragged along. Investigators from the Broward Sheriffs Offices Homicide and Crime Scene Units arrived at the scene to conduct an inquiry into the incident involving Hernandez Amaya and Amaya regarding their child custody dispute. According to findings from the investigation report; during a heated argument between Hernandez Amaya and Amaya over their child custody matters; Amaya got into his Ford F250 truck and reversed before intentionally switching gears to drive forward and hitting Hernandez Amaya with the front of his truck. Following this altercation; as Mungia Henrique attempted to hold onto the vehicle when it was in motion; she eventually fell to the ground after Amaya collided with parked cars, in the vicinity during the ordeal. Amaya proceeded to escape by running on foot.

Thereafter the authorities found Amaya in the 700 block of South Dixie Highway and took him into custody. Amaya was then taken to Broward County Main Jail following his arrest. Is now facing a charge of premeditated murder.
