Illegal Seafood

Officers Dudas and Bruder carried out inspections at a seafood market in Fort Lauderdale. During the inspection, they discovered that the market was selling 25 doctorfish (tang) and four parrotfish that were larger than the allowed size for consumption. The officers issued citations to the owner, requiring them to appear in court for these violations.

Dead Pork

Officer Bovee was conducting inspections of marine resources on the pier in Deerfield Beach when he noticed an individual holding a deceased porkfish. Upon further investigation, it was found that the individual possessed three dead porkfish. Officer Bovee issued a citation to the individual for possessing dead porkfish and not having a live well.

Bird Poachers

Officers Favrot, Beppel, Rigali and Lieutenant Ryan conducted checks on limited entry/quota permits in the STA 2 and STA 3/4 Waterfowl Small Game Public Hunting Areas. During their checks, they discovered seven individuals who were attempting to hunt without the required quota permit. The officers issued citations to all seven individuals and escorted them off the properties.

Trespassing

Officers Comartin and Delatorre were on patrol in west Pembroke Pines when they noticed several utility task vehicles inside a restricted “No Trespassing” area on South Florida Water Management District lands. The officers conducted a stop and investigated five UTVs. They then issued notices to appear citations to all five UTV operators for trespassing on SFWMD lands with motorized vehicles.
