DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A fraud investigation out of Deerfield Beach has turned into a high-dollar criminal case, with Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives accusing a local business contact of stealing more than $1.2 million and spending it on luxury purchases ranging from diamond jewelry to a private jet flight.

The suspect, identified by investigators as Keshon Litesha Rivers, was taken into custody Wednesday, Feb. 4, after detectives said they developed probable cause in a case tied to the owners of Event Décor Direct, a Deerfield Beach business.

Detectives said Rivers operated what they described as an organized scheme from May through August 2025, using a business relationship to access funds and run fraudulent charges while continuing to work with the alleged victims. Investigators said Rivers owned a business called Lock and Key Designs and had a working relationship with Event Décor Direct during the period they say the thefts occurred.

In the narrative laid out by detectives, the alleged fraud was not limited to a single transaction. Investigators said they identified dozens of fraudulent transactions over the four-month span, with spending they tied to a “high life” lifestyle. Detectives said those transactions included more than $85,000 for gold and diamond jewelry, more than $55,000 for a private jet flight from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles, and more than $43,000 for mansion home rentals in Miami Beach and Los Angeles.

Detectives also said Rivers attempted to distance herself from the charges by creating a fictitious person and blaming that individual when questions were raised about the credit card activity. Investigators said they later determined the person does not exist.

Rivers is now being held in the Broward County Main Jail while the case proceeds. Jail records list multiple pending felony charges in the Deerfield Beach case, including an allegation of obtaining property by fraud, grand theft in excess of $100,000, money laundering involving $100,000 or more, defrauding a financial institution, and creating or using fictitious personal identification information.

Bond amounts listed in the jail record include $200,000 on each of several primary charges, along with additional bond amounts on other counts. The same jail record also lists probation-related matters, including two felony probation violation entries and a Polk County hold, as well as conditions noted as passport surrender and bond collateral requirements. The record reflects an arrest is not a conviction, and the case allegations have not been proven in court.

Investigators said Rivers is on probation until 2030 on similar organized fraud charges out of Polk County, a detail they included as they announced the arrest.

The investigation remains open. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the case to contact Broward Sheriff’s Office Detective Christopher Bradley at 954-480-4300.
