BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — Boca Raton turns sunnier today behind an early cold front, but gusty northwest winds, a high rip current risk, and hazardous boating conditions remain in play.

Today’s Weather – Tuesday, December 30, 2025

Boca Raton wakes up on the back side of a cold front this morning, and you can feel it. Early today, there may be lower clouds and some patchy fog around South Florida as that boundary pushes through, but the bigger story is what follows: drier air moving in fast and a sky that trends brighter as the morning goes on.

For Boca, the day starts mostly cloudy, then gradually becomes sunny. The high is near 70. Winds are out of the northwest at 11 to 14 mph, and there’s a bite in those gusts — up to 20 mph — especially in open spots along the I-95 corridor, overpasses, and anywhere you’re exposed near the Intracoastal or the beaches. If you’re headed out for errands along Glades Road, or commuting toward Federal Highway, expect that wind to be part of the day, tugging at car doors and pushing shopping carts around.

Rain isn’t the theme. The atmosphere turns much drier after the front passes, and there’s only mention of a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms early this morning over the coastal waters. For land, the forecast package keeps the day focused on clearing skies and cooler temperatures.

Tonight is where the cold really shows up. Conditions turn mostly clear, with a low around 47 in the Boca forecast point. Northwest winds stay active around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. In the western suburbs, the chill will feel sharper in the late evening and pre-dawn hours, especially if you’re out near Lyons Road or in more open inland neighborhoods where the wind can run.

Zooming out to the bigger South Florida setup described by forecasters: cold temperatures and wind chills are arriving tonight and again Wednesday night, with the region ending the year on a chilly note. Even in the east coast metro, lows are expected to fall into the mid and upper 40s, with some lower 40s possible across the western suburbs.

At the coast, the beach is not the place to test your luck today. Increasing swell behind the front is producing a high risk of rip currents for the Palm Beaches through Wednesday, with elevated risk extending along the Atlantic coast. That means Boca’s beach conditions may look inviting once the sun wins out, but the ocean is working differently than it appears from the sand.

For boaters, it’s a hazardous stretch. A Small Craft Advisory is posted, and the local marine forecast calls for northwest winds 15 to 20 knots today with seas 5 to 7 feet, occasionally up to 9 feet offshore. The Intracoastal is expected to run a moderate chop. Tonight, winds stay stiff at around 20 knots with gusts up to 25 knots, with seas still 5 to 7 feet, occasionally to 9 feet.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

High Rip Current Risk through Wednesday evening for Coastal Palm Beach County (in effect from 7 AM EST this morning through Wednesday evening). Dangerous rip currents are expected. Impacts include rip currents sweeping even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Guidance: swim near a lifeguard; if caught, relax and float, don’t fight the current, and try to move parallel to shore.

Cold Weather Advisory from 1 AM to 9 AM EST Wednesday

Small Craft Advisory until 1 PM EST Wednesday
