The Traffic Homicide Unit of the Broward Sheriffs Office is currently investigating a collision that resulted in the death of a pedestrian on September 27th in Lauderdale Lakes.

After receiving notification around 6;20 a.m. detectives from the BSO Traffic Homicide Unit promptly arrived at the scene where a fatal accident occurred involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near the 3400 block of North State Road 7.

Initial findings from the on site investigation indicate that Josette Marie Avril was driving a 2023 Kia Soul heading southbound on North State Road 7 in the right lane. She was proceeding through the intersection at Northwest 34th Street. At the time the pedestrian was crossing North State Road 7 from east to west, south of the designated crosswalk at Northwest 34th Street.
