BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Railroad crossings just west of Interstate 95 on Palmetto Park Road and Camino Real are closed again following another gate arm malfunction, the latest in a series of similar disruptions in the same area.

The Boca Raton Police Department issued a traffic advisory at 7:28 a.m. Wednesday reporting that the crossings on both Palmetto Park Road and Camino Real, just west of I-95, are shut down due to malfunctioning gate arms at the tracks.

Police also closed eastbound traffic at Palmetto Park Road and Military Trail as part of the advisory.

This marks another closure tied to railroad gate equipment in the same corridor. Boca Post most recently reported on similar railroad crossing issues in this area on February 9, when gate arm malfunctions prompted temporary shutdowns and traffic backups near I-95.

Palmetto Park Road and Camino Real serve as two of the primary east-west connectors through central Boca Raton, linking neighborhoods, schools, and commercial areas to the I-95 interchange. Military Trail is one of the city’s busiest north-south arteries. When crossings in this cluster are closed, drivers are forced to detour, often funneling traffic onto already congested alternate routes.

The advisory did not include an estimated time for repairs or reopening. It did not specify the exact mechanical issue beyond identifying a gate arm malfunction, nor did it name the railroad operator responsible for the crossing equipment.

Traffic control and roadway safety within city limits fall under the authority of the Boca Raton Police Department. The railroad crossing equipment itself is maintained through rail operations and associated maintenance systems. Police alerts are issued to notify the public of immediate roadway impacts while the underlying issue is addressed.

Drivers who typically use the crossings west of I-95 at Palmetto Park Road or Camino Real should plan alternate routes and allow additional travel time. Eastbound motorists approaching Palmetto and Military should expect restrictions and possible delays until the crossing equipment is repaired and cleared for safe operation.

Boca Post tracks crash reports and traffic incidents impacting local streets and major routes across the area.

UPDATE (02/11/2026 08:43:01 AM EST): All lanes of that were closed on Camino/Palmetto due to railroad crossings are now open, including Palmetto/Military.
