UPDATE: Three Teens Killed After BMW Loses Control, Slams Bus Stop on Federal Highway in Pompano Beach

POMPANO BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A deadly crash in Pompano Beach shut down a stretch of North Federal Highway Monday night as Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives worked an active scene and investigated reports of multiple fatalities.

Deputies responded around 7 p.m. to the 1600 block of North Federal Highway after reports of a traffic crash, the BSO Public Information Office said. Detectives later confirmed there were multiple deaths connected to the crash.

The roadway in the area was closed while investigators processed the scene. Drivers were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes as the investigation continued.

As of late Monday night, BSO officials had not released information about how the crash happened, how many vehicles were involved, or the identities of those who died. The incident remained a “developing” situation, according to the agency.

Public Information Officer Carey Codd was gathering details, the BSO Public Information Office said. Investigators were still working to piece together what led up to the collision.

The crash was reported in the area of 1600 North Federal Highway, a busy corridor that carries significant evening traffic through Pompano Beach. With the roadway shut down, motorists in the area could expect delays and detours as law enforcement worked the scene.

BSO did not immediately say how long the closure would remain in place, but officials stressed the roadway would stay shut down while the investigation proceeded.

Drivers were asked to plan ahead, avoid the area if possible, and follow posted detours and law enforcement direction.

This story will be updated as additional information is released by the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
