One Dead, Driver Seriously Hurt in Palm Beach Gardens Crash

A passenger was killed and the driver was seriously injured after a Lexus SUV left Jack Nicklaus Drive in Palm Beach Gardens and crashed into a concrete pole, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL — A fatal single-vehicle crash in Palm Beach Gardens left one woman dead and another seriously injured in the 11000 block of Jack Nicklaus Drive on March 9, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say a 2024 Lexus RX350 was traveling north on Jack Nicklaus Drive and approaching a left-hand curve around 6 p.m. when the driver failed to negotiate the curve for an unknown reason. The SUV veered toward the right side of the roadway, traveled off the road into the grass, and went down an embankment before striking a concrete pole.

The driver, identified as Catherine Borowski, was transported from the scene to St. Mary’s Medical Center with serious injuries.

A passenger, Sara Dunham, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue at 6:13 p.m. Investigators say the vehicle rotated slightly clockwise after the impact before coming to an uncontrolled final rest.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division is investigating the crash. Next of kin has been notified.
