LAUDERDALE LAKES, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — Detectives are investigating a shooting that sent more than two dozen rounds into an occupied home in Lauderdale Lakes earlier this month, and they are now asking for the public’s help to identify the person responsible.

According to investigators with the Broward Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit, the shooting happened just before 8 a.m. on Dec. 10 near the 4400 block of Northwest 43rd Court in Lauderdale Lakes.

Broward County Regional Communications received multiple calls reporting gunfire in the area at approximately 7:57 a.m. Deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene. When they arrived, crews learned that an unknown individual had fired multiple shots into a residence that was occupied at the time.

Surveillance video from the area captured key moments leading up to the shooting. Detectives say the footage shows a white Mercedes SUV driving past the home several times before the gunfire erupted.

Twice, the vehicle is seen parking a few doors down from the residence. The driver then exits the SUV and runs toward the back of the victim’s home.

The subject is described as wearing all black clothing, including a black hoodie pulled over his head. Investigators say the individual fired more than two dozen rounds into the residence before running back to the Mercedes SUV and leaving the area.

Despite the volume of gunfire, detectives say no one inside the home was seriously injured.

The motive for the shooting has not been released, and investigators have not said whether the home was targeted or if the suspect knew the occupants. The case remains active as detectives continue to review evidence and seek additional surveillance or eyewitness accounts from the neighborhood.

Detectives are urging anyone who may recognize the vehicle or has information about the person involved to come forward. Authorities say even small details could be critical in identifying the suspect and determining why the home was targeted.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Broward Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Detective Brandon Palmer at 954-321-5008. Tips can also be submitted through the SaferWatch app.
