Amit Heerawan Of Boca Raton Charged With 2 Counts Of Arson

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — 25-year-old Amit Heerawan of Boca Raton has been arrested for arson after allegedly setting fire to his parent’s Boca Raton home after becoming upset about an arranged marriage.

According to investigators from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office as well as Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, Heerawan is responsible for two separate fires at a home in the  Meadow Lakes community located in West Boca on November 1st and November 13th.

According to investigators, Heerawan set fire to multiple mattresses as well as vegetation outside of the home on the 10600 block of Boca Entrada Boulevard, where he lives with his parents. Investigators report that Heerawan got upset with his mother about an arranged marriage and that is why he set the fires.

Firefighters responded to the home again nearly two weeks later after reports of smoke and fire at the home. On that date, first responders found a tool shed in the backyard was on fire and determined it was a total loss. Witnesses, who observed smoke and fire after hearing a loud explosion, told police they witnessed Heerawan fleeing the area on his blue scooter. Heerawan was said to have ignored neighbors who were telling him there was a fire at his home.

PBSO later filed for a warrant for the arrest of Heerawan who has been charged with two counts of arson and one count of criminal mischief.

No injuries were reported from either incident.
