PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A man was struck by a car and killed while crossing Military Trail in Palm Beach Gardens.

The deadly crash happened at 7:39 PM on Monday, January 1st, 2023.

Laura Li Cheung, 52, was traveling southbound on Military Trail in the outside southbound lane in a Honda Accord.

At the same time, a man was crossing Military Trail westbound across the southbound lanes. According to investigators, the man crossed into the path of the Accord. This caused a violent collision between the front of the Accord and the right side of the pedestrian. The pedestrian mounted the passenger side hood of the vehicle and slid into the windshield. The pedestrian then fender vaulted off the passenger side of the accord and struck the roadway coming to rest west of Military Trail south of the area of impact. The accord continued southbound and was brought to a controlled rest south of the area of impact in a driveway. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene by Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue. Li Cheung did not receive personal injury as a result of the collision.

PBSO has not yet released the identity of the killed pedestrian.
