BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — Boca Raton stays mostly sunny and breezy today with highs near 77, but the beach is the bigger story with dangerous rip currents and high surf early.

Today’s Weather – Tuesday, December 23, 2025

Boca Raton wakes up to a mostly sunny forecast and a steady onshore breeze, the kind that keeps the air feeling comfortable but also keeps the ocean worked up. For the inland neighborhoods along the I-95 corridor — think Glades Road out toward Lyons Road and the western suburbs — it’s a good day for errands, outdoor breaks, and anything that doesn’t involve getting in the water.

High temperatures today are expected to top out near 77. Skies stay mostly sunny, and the wind is the main weather feature: an east wind 14 to 18 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. You’ll feel it in open areas, on overpasses, and anywhere the breeze has a clean shot across the Intracoastal or the wide east-west roads.

If you’re headed toward the barrier island, the surf conditions are not subtle. The National Weather Service has a High Rip Current Risk posted, along with a High Surf Advisory. The advisory describes large breaking waves of 6 to 8 feet in the surf zone, and those waves pair with dangerous rip currents. Even experienced swimmers can get pulled into deeper water fast when the ocean is doing that.

Tonight stays fairly quiet overall, but it isn’t completely dry. The forecast calls for a slight chance of showers between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. It’ll be partly cloudy with a low around 68, and the breeze doesn’t shut off — winds turn northeast 10 to 13 mph with gusts up to 18 mph. Rain chances are low, just 20%, so most areas won’t see much, but a quick overnight shower is on the table.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

The National Weather Service lists the following active coastal hazards for the Boca Raton area:

  • Rip Current Statement / High Rip Current RiskHigh rip current risk now in effect through Wednesday evening for Coastal Palm Beach County and Coastal Broward County.
  • High Surf AdvisoryIn effect until 11 a.m. EST this morning for Coastal Palm Beach County and Coastal Broward County, with large breaking waves of 6 to 8 feet in the surf zone.

Impacts listed by the NWS: dangerous swimming and surfing conditions, localized beach erosion, and rip currents capable of sweeping swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

The NWS safety language is straightforward: inexperienced swimmers should stay out of the water, swim near a lifeguard, and if caught in a rip current, relax and float rather than fighting it.

7 Day Outlook

Today (Tue): Mostly sunny and breezy, high near 77. East winds 14–18 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Beach hazards remain the big concern.

Tonight (Tue Night): Partly cloudy, low around 68. A 20% chance of showers between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. Northeast winds 10–13 mph, gusts up to 18 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, high near 78. Northeast winds 9–14 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. The high rip current risk continues through Wednesday evening, so the surf remains a problem even with the clear sky.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, low around 68. Northeast wind 7–10 mph. A calmer overnight setup compared to earlier in the week, but still a light breeze.

Christmas Day (Thursday): Mostly sunny, high near 79. North wind 7–10 mph. Comfortable daytime weather for outdoor plans, with a cleaner, drier feel.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, low around 65. North wind 3–6 mph. This is one of the cooler nights in the stretch.

Friday: Sunny, high near 79. Northwest wind around 7 mph becomes east in the afternoon — a familiar South Florida rhythm with the wind turning back onshore later in the day.

Friday Night: Clear, low around 64. East wind around 5 mph becomes west after midnight.

Saturday: Sunny, high near 79. Northwest wind 5–7 mph becomes east in the afternoon.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, low around 64.

Sunday: Sunny, high near 80.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, low around 63.

Monday: Mostly sunny, high near 77.

Overall, the pattern stays stable: a run of sun and seasonable highs in the upper 70s to near 80, cooler nights dipping into the mid 60s by late week, and periodic wind shifts. The near-term headline remains the coast — dangerous surf and rip currents through Wednesday evening, with high surf early today.
