Devon Perez Passed Away After Deadly Accident In Lighthouse Point

LIGHTHOUSE POINT, FL (Boca Post) — A 40-year-old woman was hit by an Audi and killed in Lighthouse Point on August 5th, 2022.

From Broward Sheriff’s Office:

Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a crash that killed a female pedestrian in Lighthouse Point.

According to investigators, at approximately 9:46 p.m., Friday, Aug. 5, Lighthouse Point police officers and Lighthouse Point Fire Rescue personnel responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash near the 3100 block of North Federal Highway. The on-scene preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, Devon Perez, attempted to cross North Federal Highway while midblock, traveling westbound on foot.

After clearing the northbound lanes and the center median, Perez entered the southbound lanes where she was struck by a black 2018 Audi A5 traveling in the right-thru lane.

Witnesses in the left and center thru lanes told detectives that Perez suddenly appeared in front of them, forcing them to brake. However, the driver of the Audi did not have an opportunity to observe the pedestrian until she was struck.

Paramedics transported Perez to Broward Health North with life-threatening injuries. The victim was later pronounced deceased during treatment.

Detectives say neither excessive speed nor impairment on the driver’s part is considered contributing factor to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
