Multi-Vehicle Crash Leaves A Man Dead In Pompano Beach

A man lost his life in a multi vehicle crash in Pompano Beach. It happened on Thursday, July 24 at around 2;40 p.m. Someone called 911 to report a crash with injuries, near the 1500 block of Southwest 46th Avenue. When investigators looked into it they found out that a Chevrolet Express van and a big rig had stopped in the lane of Southwest 46th Avenue. The truck had broken down which is why they were stopped.So it seems like a bad accident happened on Southwest 46th Avenue. Francine Gomes was behind the wheel of a 2024 Hyundai Elantra, headed north in the lane. Apparently she didn’t stop in time. Slammed into the back of a Chevrolet. The impact was strong enough to push the Chevrolet into a Freightliner. One person, Aurelio Gonzalez was inside the Chevrolet at the time of the crash. Luckily the drivers of the two vehicles weren’t, in their cars when it all happened.Tragedy struck when Pompano Beach Fire Rescue rushed to the scene and took Gonzalez to North Broward Medical Center to treat his injuries. Unfortunately his condition took a turn for the worse. He was pronounced dead at the hospital on Monday, July 28. The day detectives, from the BSO Traffic Homicide Unit got word of the fatality. They’re still looking into what happened trying to piece the events of the deadly crash.
