BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A volleyball coach for South Florida Volleyball Club, a volleyball club in Boca Raton, was arrested earlier this month after one of the club’s teenage players tells police that the two had exchanged inappropriate text messages.

Gustavo Cintron, 33, of Lake Worth, was a coach at the South Florida Volleyball Club where he was responsible for coaching young girls in the sport of Volleyball. According to an arrest affidavit submitted by Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, he was doing a bit more than just coaching with at least one of the teenage girls.

According to the police report, a young girl was interviewed and asked about inappropriate messages on 3 different occasions. The girl allegedly changed her story several times and finally disclosed all of the details after detectives downloaded text messages from her devices. The girl, according to the arrest report, was evasive and didn’t want to disclose many details about the text conversations.

During the third interview, after PBSO had downloaded and reviewed all of the text messages from her devices, the teenage girl had more to say. The girl told investigators that Cintron, who was saved as a different contact name on her phone, actually made her send him nude photos and videos and suggested ‘something’ would happen if she didn’t.

Cintron was invited to be interviewed by PBSO investigators who he claimed to have said: “stupid things that I never should have said”. Cintron told investigators that he made it very clear to the teenage girl that he would never “do anything” with her until she was eighteen years old. Cintron admitted that he asked the girl to send him nude photos and videos. Cintron admitted to pleasuring himself while watching the sexual content.

Cintron told investigators that he has never done this with any other girl before.

According to one of SFVC’s websites, Cintron had 8 years of prior coaching experience when he was in his 2nd year of coaching at SFVC. At this time, it is unclear how many years he worked with SFVC. Boca Post has reached out to the owner of SFVC but has not yet received a response.

Cintron was arrested on 3/28/22 and charged with OBSCENE COMMUNICATION – USE COMPUTER TO SEDUCE SOLICIT LURE CHILD (847.0135 3A (FT)). He was released a day later on a $25,000 bond. Some conditions of his release include no contact with the victim, no internet use, no computer use, no contact with minor children, and no use of other electronic devices.
