BOCA RATON, FL — A Boca Raton nursing and rehabilitation center is named in a wrongful death lawsuit filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court after the estate of a former resident alleged a preventable fall led to fatal injuries, according to a newly filed complaint.
The case is Michael Schneyman and Arlene Perlson as Co-Personal Representatives of the Estate of Isabel Schneyman v. Boca Regents OPCO, LLC d/b/a Legacy at Boca Raton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Case No. 502026CA006910XXXAMB. The complaint was filed June 19, 2026, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County.
The plaintiffs are represented by attorney Scott M. Fischer of Morgan & Morgan in West Palm Beach, according to the filing. The complaint names Boca Regents OPCO, LLC, doing business as Legacy at Boca Raton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, as the defendant.
The lawsuit alleges Isabel Schneyman was admitted to the defendant’s nursing home in Palm Beach County and suffered a preventable fall on or around July 5, 2024. According to the complaint, the fall resulted in a distal femur fracture that required surgery.
The complaint claims facility records regarding the fall were dated July 7, 2024, but were written as a late entry on July 11, 2024. The lawsuit also alleges Schneyman was transported to the hospital on July 8, 2024, and that ambulance records noted a fracture for three days.
According to the complaint, hospital staff were told Schneyman had fallen three days earlier and had a confirmed fracture. The filing states medics told a triage nurse that she fell out of bed.
The lawsuit alleges Schneyman underwent surgery on July 11, 2024, including a left revision total knee arthroplasty and open reduction, internal fixation of the left distal femur with a cerclage cable. The complaint claims she died four days later, on July 15, 2024.
The complaint brings two counts under Florida’s Chapter 400 nursing home law: a death claim and a survival claim. In plain terms, the lawsuit alleges the nursing home violated resident rights related to adequate care, protective services, dignity and freedom from abuse.
The filing claims the defendant owed Schneyman duties tied to the operation of the nursing home, including duties related to staffing, training, supervision and care. Those claims are allegations in a civil complaint and have not been proven in court.
The lawsuit identifies the estate, Michael Schneyman and Arlene Perlson as wrongful death beneficiaries. It seeks damages exceeding $50,000, along with costs, interest and a jury trial.
