City Of Boca Raton Faces Lawsuit Over Alleged Glades Road Van Collision

BOCA RATON, FL — A Boca Raton woman has filed a civil lawsuit against the City of Boca Raton in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, alleging she was injured after a city-owned van collided with her vehicle on West Glades Road.

The complaint, filed May 27, 2026, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County, is captioned Tawana White v. City of Boca Raton, Case No. 502026CA005942XXXAMB. The case is assigned to Division AE, according to the filing.

White is represented by Cohen and Cohen, P.A., a Hollywood-based law firm. The filing reviewed by Boca Post does not include defense attorney information for the City of Boca Raton.

According to the complaint, White was and is a resident of Boca Raton. The defendant, the City of Boca Raton, is described in the lawsuit as a municipality and political subdivision of the State of Florida with its principal place of business at 201 West Palmetto Park Road in Boca Raton.

The lawsuit alleges the case arises from an automobile collision that occurred on or about June 11, 2025, at 1401 West Glades Road in Boca Raton.

According to the complaint, the City of Boca Raton owned a 2016 white Ford van with the vehicle identification number listed in the filing. The lawsuit claims the city permitted and authorized its employee, Hector I. Rodriguez Cuadrado, to operate, maintain and control the van within the course and scope of his employment.

The complaint states that White was driving a 2009 black Honda at the time and place of the alleged collision.

The lawsuit alleges Rodriguez Cuadrado negligently operated, maintained or controlled the city-owned van, causing it to collide with the vehicle White was operating. Those claims are allegations made in a civil complaint and have not been proven in court.

The complaint brings one count against the City of Boca Raton, described in the filing as a respondent superior liability claim. In plain terms, the lawsuit seeks to hold the city responsible for alleged negligence by its employee while acting within the course and scope of employment.

The filing claims that, as a result of the city’s alleged vicarious negligence, White suffered bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, medical expenses, nursing care and treatment, and aggravation of a previously existing condition.

The lawsuit also claims White’s vehicle was damaged and that she lost use of the vehicle during the period required for repair or replacement.

White is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, exclusive of costs, according to the complaint. The lawsuit also seeks costs, interest and any other relief the court deems proper, reasonable and just.

The complaint includes a demand for a jury trial on all issues triable by right.
