Severe Weather Alert - Tuesday, June 2, 2026
BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — South Florida is in a hot, humid, storm-favorable pattern Tuesday evening, and a severe thunderstorm is already moving northeast from the Miami area into Broward. The National Weather Service warning runs until 6:30 p.m. for northern Miami-Dade and southern Broward, but residents farther north—including the Boca Raton area—should be prepared for additional strong storms to develop or move in quickly through the early evening as the atmosphere remains primed for severe weather.
The warned storm was located near Doral/Hialeah at 6 p.m. and is tracking northeast at about 20 mph.
The primary hazards are damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail, which can dent vehicles, damage roofs and siding, and bring down tree limbs. Torrential rainfall is also occurring, raising the risk for sudden street flooding—especially in low-lying areas and places with poor drainage.
While the current warning is focused on southern Broward and northern Miami-Dade, Boca Raton-area residents should treat this as a heads-up for rapidly changing conditions. The broader forecast discussion from NWS Miami notes a continued threat of isolated strong to severe storms this afternoon and evening across northeastern South Florida, along with very high humidity and intense heat.
That combination can help storms intensify quickly and produce brief but dangerous wind bursts and hail. What to do now: If thunder is heard, move indoors immediately.
