BOCA RATON, FL — A Boca Raton patient has sued Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, alleging she was injured in a fall during a visit to the hospital last year, according to a civil complaint filed this week.
The lawsuit, brought by Mary Ann Cohen against Boca Raton Regional Hospital Inc., a Florida not-for-profit corporation, was filed on June 25, 2026, in the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County. Court records show the case is docketed as Cohen v. Boca Raton Regional Hospital Inc., Case No. 502026CA007140XXXAMB, assigned to Division AK. The complaint was filed by attorney Timothy D. Kenison of GoldLaw, P.A., based in West Palm Beach.
According to the complaint, Cohen was a patient at the hospital on June 18, 2025, for radiology and laboratory studies. The filing says she was a resident of Palm Beach County at the time and was on the property as an invitee receiving care.
The lawsuit alleges that during her visit, Cohen fell and suffered a back injury along with what the complaint describes as extensive bruising on her back and arms. The complaint states the hospital is located at 800 Meadows Road in Boca Raton.
The single count in the complaint asserts general negligence. The lawsuit alleges the hospital failed to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition and failed to correct what the complaint describes as a dangerous condition involving a damaged wheelchair that, the filing says, the hospital knew or should have known about. The complaint also alleges failure to warn, failure to train employees, and a negligent mode of business operation.
The filing alleges the hospital had a non-delegable duty to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition for the public. The complaint claims Cohen suffered bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, lost earnings, and aggravation of a pre-existing condition, and that the losses are either permanent or continuing.
The lawsuit seeks damages in excess of $50,001, exclusive of costs, interest, and attorney's fees. The plaintiff has also demanded a trial by jury.
The complaint includes a certificate disclosing that artificial intelligence was used in the preparation of the filing, with counsel certifying that all factual assertions, legal authority, citations, and arguments were independently reviewed and verified.
The filing reviewed by Boca Post does not include a response from the defendant. No defense attorney is listed in the complaint, and the docket entry reflects only the initial complaint as of the filing date.
