Today's Weather - Monday, June 22, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL — Expect a sunny, very hot Monday with a high near 91 and heat index values pushing about 105 during the afternoon. Winds start light, then turn southeast at 6 to 11 mph, keeping the coast warm and humid. Rain chances are low today, but an isolated inland shower or thunderstorm can’t be ruled out late day. Tonight stays warm and partly cloudy with a low near 81

South Florida’s weather pattern is settling into a more stable setup today as a broad area of high pressure aloft builds back over the peninsula. The disturbance that helped spark more widespread showers the past few days is moving away, and that shift matters locally: it generally means fewer storms and more sun, which also means more heat.

At the surface, weak high pressure over the western Atlantic keeps a light south to southeast breeze in place. That onshore-leaning flow continues to feed low-level humidity into Boca Raton, so even with plenty of sunshine, it won’t feel “dry.” The National Weather Service forecast calls for a high near 91 today, but the more important number is the heat index, which can reach around 105 this afternoon.

The forecast discussion highlights Moderate to Major HeatRisk again today, with the greatest concern for people who are more vulnerable to heat—older adults, young kids, outdoor workers, and anyone without reliable cooling. While the chance of meeting formal Heat Advisory levels is described as marginal, the impacts can still add up quickly in full sun.

Plan outdoor chores early, take frequent shade breaks, and keep water handy. Storm chances remain limited today, with the best odds for isolated afternoon storms focused away from the immediate Atlantic coast and more toward the interior and southwest side of the state.

For the Boca Raton coastal waters (Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach), winds stay on the lighter side today and tonight from the south around 5 to 10 knots, with seas 2 feet or less and light chop on the Intracoastal. Tuesday and Wednesday remain similar, then southeast winds increase to 10 to 15 knots late week with seas around 2 feet and a more noticeable chop.

Even on calm days, any isolated thunderstorm over the water can briefly kick up gusty winds and rougher seas, so boaters should keep an eye on the sky and radar before heading out.
