BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton will run sunny and warm today, topping out near 89 degrees with a light wind that turns southeast as the sea breeze develops. Humidity will be noticeable, but rain is not expected. Tonight stays mostly clear and warmer than normal for early May, with lows in the mid to upper 70s near the coast. The heat trend continues into Friday and the weekend, with the next better chance for showers and storms holding off until early next week
South Florida is settling into a quiet weather pattern today, and that means Boca Raton’s forecast is being driven more by sunshine and the daily sea breeze than by any strong storm system. The National Weather Service notes a lack of large-scale “push” in the atmosphere right now, so skies stay mostly clear and rain chances remain near zero through Friday.
High pressure aloft is the key player. In plain terms, it acts like a lid that encourages sinking air, which helps keep clouds from growing tall enough for widespread afternoon storms.
The tradeoff is heat: with strong May sun and limited cloud cover, temperatures climb quickly late morning into mid-afternoon. For today, expect a high near 89 in Boca Raton.
Winds start light and trend from southwest early to southeast late morning and afternoon as the Atlantic sea breeze moves inland. That onshore breeze can take the edge off right at the beach, but it also adds humidity, so it can feel hotter than the thermometer suggests.
Atlantic boating conditions near Boca Raton remain generally calm, with seas running around 1 to 2 feet today and near 2 feet tonight. South winds increase through the day (around 10 to 15 knots late), with gusts up to about 20 knots tonight before turning more westerly after midnight.
Friday trends lighter with a northwest-to-north breeze and seas easing back toward 1 foot or less at times. Intracoastal waters should see light chop.
Early next week, a chance of showers and thunderstorms returns; winds and seas can briefly run higher in and near storms.
